Tour Itinerary
At 6pm, you are picked by our local guide and we start our motorbike trip around the city.
Before filling up your belly, we would get to understand a bit of Sai Gon history by visiting Thich Quang Duc monument, a monk who burned himself for immolation.
Continue to visit the Ho Thi Ky flower street. Let’s try a local pancake, Banh Trang Nuong. It is more for young people but so tasty if you never heard of it before.
Banh trang nuong refers to round crunchy rice crackers cooked over charcoal and topped with any number of ingredients. They’re a popular night time snack food that’s often referred to as “Vietnamese pizza”.
Then we try another dish, Banh Mi. Do you wonder why every corner of the city you could find easily it? That means it is so delicious and locals love to eat anytime of the day. But what is it really?
Banh mi is one of the most well-known examples of Vietnamese food. Even if you aren’t that familiar with traditional Vietnamese food or have never been to Vietnam, chances are you’ve at least heard of banh mi. It’s considered a Vietnamese national dish and can be found pretty much anywhere in Vietnam. Like any sandwich, you can basically put whatever you want in a banh mi so there are many varieties made with other ingredients as well like duck, egg, grilled chicken, fish cake, etc.
Are you thirsty a bit? A fruit juice would cool you down after spicy dish before. With a tropical climate, Viet Nam is so rich of fruits and vegetables. A juice could tell you how much fresh and beautiful flavour it is.
Besides, Banh Xeo is second popular dish in the South. It does not fill up you somehow, it just gives a taste of five flavours in cooking.
In spices used for example, a balance is sought between sour, bitter, sweet, spicy, and salty. In presentation, cooks aim to have the colors green, red, yellow, white, and black in their food. Vietnamese food is considered one of the healthiest cuisines in the world and this is due in part to a balance of nutrients like carbohydrates, fat, protein, minerals, and water.
Bánh xèo is widely eaten around south and central Vietnam. Watching the crispy crepe being assembled is an audio-visual experience: the batter crackles loudly when it hits the hot pan—xèo meaning sizzling—and the edges gradually curl and golden as the skilled xèo maker deftly swirls the pan to evenly spread out the dense batter.
